Diplomats walked out in large numbers on Friday in protest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly amidst Israel’s escalation of attacks on Lebanon and its ongoing war on Gaza. In his speech, Netanyahu called the UN a “contemptuous farce” with an “antisemitic swamp” in need of “draining” in his criticism of the UN’s treatment of Israel. Israel’s attacks on Lebanon have killed over 700 people the past week, including scores of women and children, in addition to more than 42,000 people killed in Gaza.
