Rainbow released their sole album, AFTER THE STORM, on GNP Crescendo Records in 1968. GNP Crescendo is an label known to 60s rock afficianados for being the home of garage bands like The Seeds and The Lyrics, and--on GNP’s subsidiary label, Carole--psychedelic combos like Orphan Egg and The Mystic Astrologic Crystal Band. “4 Leaf Clover“ is probably my favorite tune from this interesting but often sluggish album. Listening to it, you can’t help wondering about possible influence by or opon Tommy James & The Shondells’ well known hit “Crimson and Clover.“ I found an original sealed copy of the album at Jerry’s Records in Pittsburgh, PA for a mere $, and that’s what you’re hearing here. The turntable used in this recording is a Stanton T55 with a standard Stanton 500 v3 cartridge.
