Acclaimed Czech documentary filmmaker Jan E. Svatoš pulls back the curtain on the making of his successful documentaries filmed in Africa and the USA, focusing on his latest, “The Ark of Lights and Shadows.“ The films follows trailblazing couple Martin & Osa Johnson of Chanute, KS, who pioneered authentic wildlife filmmaking in Africa in early 20th century. Jan will share stories from his decade-long journey of making this film including what it’s like to film with anti-poacher patrol, work with the renown Werner Herzog, do research in the Library of Congress, as well as the inspiration for his upcoming project “When the Lion Roars“ about Czech king Přemysl II.
