Don Henley - Workin' It

An excellent song by Don Henley (of the Eagles) that basically says greedily pursuing short term gain ('creating shareholder value') can often lead to long term, severe problems for the Earth, and thus all its inhabitants. Marketing's relentless push towards 'excess consumerism' is draining finite resources, needlessly. We now seem to have the (implied) business mantras of - growth at any (external) cost ... competition over co-operation - these seem to be so entrenched nowadays within corporate life that their full implications are just not questioned any more; the knock-on effects of dangerous debt, dubious morals and distorting values are overlooked totally for that all-important short term gain. This also shows that power without compassion (i.e. any abuse) is quite dangerous as we are all interconnected. This video is respectfully dedicated to the numerous poor souls who lost their lives or were injured in the tragic garment-factory collapse in Bangladesh (24/4/13); they were earning a meagre 38 euros per month; and were serving major high street brands. This video was produced and presented here simply for entertainment sake and at best to hopefully raise awareness to our compassionate nature; and of ecological and humanitarian issues generally. The issues presented here are common to all countries of the world even though Don Henley's song is set in the US; this is an apolitical video, no offence is intended to anyone. ________________ Rider 1: This is a video based on my interpretation of this wonderful song's lyrics (and may not be Don's himself, please note) - no esoteric political agenda is implied beyond clear humanitarian concerns. This is most definitely NOT an anti-US video by any means, it was created simply to highlight ecologically damaging practices (arguably) that prevail in most developed or developing nations. Rider 2: No rights to this song or video excerpts owned (where applicable), this was put together purely for entertainment and not for making any money whatsoever, no copyright infringement intended of song or images used (various sources). My big, warm, kind thanks to all source owners, clips used simply for art's sake, nothing more. x Copyright Disclaimer: Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for 'Fair Use' for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship and research.
