Marcabru (c. 1130–1150 AD) was one of the first troubadours we have knowledge of. He experimented with several styles, before writing crusade songs. Here he urges all Christians to Spain, which he calls a “Washing Place“ where crusaders could redeem their sin before God. Lyrics (Old Occitan): Pax in nomine Domini! Fetz Marcabrus los motz e.l so.
