During a 1995 Pearl Jam concert in Sydney, Australia, Vedder and the band were in the middle of a performance when a shoe was thrown on stage. Vedder picked it up and soon realized that someone had thrown a size 17 shoe onto the stage. He then joked with the audience, asking “Did someone lose their boomerang?“ The shoe incident became a running joke throughout the concert. At one point, Vedder even took the shoe and placed it on top of his head, pretending to be a member of the Village People. After the concert, Vedder found out that the shoe belonged to a basketball player named Luc Longley, who played for the Chicago Bulls at the time. Vedder and Longley ended up becoming friends, and Longley even joined Pearl Jam on stage during a later concert in Chicago. This story is a fun example of Vedder's quick wit and ability to engage with his audience, even in unexpected situations. #eddievedder #pearljam #grunge #stonegossard #chriscornell #nirvana #soundgarden #mikemccready #jeffam
