“Here's the latest from Uncle Sam.“ L/S of large number of men in uniform stand either side of a a long wooden construction. They bend their knees and lift the wooden blocks. They walk towards the camera carrying the wood - it is a floating bridge. L/S of the bridge being floated on a river. The men wade into the river and push out the bridge. Point of view shots from on board the bridge as it is pushed out to the other side of the river. A man who is sitting at the very front of the bridge ties it to a tree on the far bank. M/S of one of the soldiers explaining how the bridge works. “This footbridge is constructed like a sidewalk filled with kapok. (? I think that is what he says!) Intertitle reads: “Of course, if there were any bullets about, they'd do it like this!“ We see the same footage in fast motion with the sound of gun fire - looks quite funny.
