The frog moves faster than the default character and is an important part of the speedrun. Then I navigate the witch’s bedroom in the dark to get the 20/20 badge which lets me see in the dark. For the next section, I need 20/20 but I cannot use the frog, so I quickly menu over to the badges and toggle them appropriately. My next goal is a badge in the wolf den. You need a silver coated weapon to harm werewolves, so I just run past them. The reason I can’t use the frog is that his weapon doesn’t trigger the secret tunnel opening. In the secret tunnel I get a badge that lets you start the game with maximum firepower, which helps with mowing down monsters and bosses. I cycle on that badge and the frog badge and start the core of the run. I first make my way to a underground area of the swamp to get a gem crystal. It gives me 25 gems and increases my limit by 25, up to 75. I need a cap of 75 to pay a toll later. I get a few gems from random badguys until I have at least 30, and then buy shoes from a vendor in the village. These shoes allow me to walk on the darker mud without being incredibly slowed. I make my way over to the far right of the swamp where there’s a special weapon known as the hot pants. These allow you to spit fire out behind you and also give yourself a little speed boost. Also, the frog’s weapon doesn’t count for triggering certain events (like in the wolf’s den), but the hot pants do. In order to reach them, I use a glitch where I get an enemy to knock me onto the swamp water tiles, and walk to another side. Normally, you cannot walk on water, and need to grow vines to get around in this area. I grab the hot pants and use the glitch to get back. I make my way underground to a town that has been taken over by zombies, picking up a damage boost along the way. I need to purify the town because one of the villagers in it is part of a quest I need to complete. To purify the town I need to kill the boss zombies in 3 separate crypts. Before I head into the crypts, I destroy all the tombstones, which gives me a badge that makes the game act like an old school tv show. I do this because the game runs a lot faster as part of the effect. Another part of the effect is that most of the game’s sound effects go away, which is a shame. The first crypt is pretty simple, and I get another damage upgrade near the start of it. The second crypt is even easier, and doesn’t require any sort of explanation. The third crypt is the hardest by far. The most obnoxious part is near the begining where I need to kill a specific skeleton that is across a pit of spikes. Normally this isn’t hard, but the frog has very limited range. Luckilly, RNG is on my side, and I kill the skeleton relatively quickly. The rest of the crypt is pretty self explanatory, which leads to me purifying the town. I talk to one of the villagers because I need the gems he gives as a reward. I take those gems to the toll bridge to get into the mountains. Inside a cave is a silver ingot I need, so I rush through a bunch of mummies to get to it. All that remains in this part of the run is to kill every overworld enemy. I take care of all the mummies and head down to the purified town. One of the townspeople offers to coat your weapon using the silver ingot, which allows you to kill werewolves. The point to basically the entire run so far was to get that upgrade so I can kill everything on the overworld, including werewolves. I do a decent job cleaning up the rest of the enemies, but I miss one little frog directly beneath the village which costs me time. After I kill every enemy, I get a badge which gives you all access to every part of the game upon starting a new file. It gives you every key, quest item, etc. With this badge, I can rush into the final area of the game and take down the final tw
