This is the longplay of Arrow Flash, a shoot 'em up video game developed by ITL and published by Sega in Japan and Europe and by Renovation Products in the United States for the Mega Drive in 1990. Arrow Flash follows protagonist Zana Keene (named Anna Schwinn in the European version, and Starna Oval in the Japanese version) as she fights hostile aliens. The game's main character pilots a prototype ship capable of transforming into a giant mecha left by her grandfather to fight an alien attack against humanity. The game is primarily a horizontal shooter with an up and down scrolling stage. Like many shoot 'em ups, the player initially has a basic shot, which can be upgraded and/or swapped for different weapons, as well as gaining smaller ships that accompany the player's ship and copy their attacks. As usual, these powerups are distributed throughout the levels. They are kept when advancing to the next stage, but are lost completely when the player loses a life. Two additional mechanics differentiate Arrow Flash from other shoot 'em ups, one of which is the ability to transform the player's ship. The two forms available are a humanoid mecha form and a fighter jet form. The game's title “Arrow Flash“ is a highly powerful attack for each of the forms; the jet fires five large blasts forward, while the mecha form turns into an agile glowing ball, rendering it immune to attack for a short time. Depending on the options set at the beginning of the game, arrow flashes need to be charged with unlimited usage or collected by the level with no charge time. It was one of the first games of this genre released for the Sega Genesis. The game contains references to Gundam, Dragonar, Layzner and Macross. I hope you enjoy the video.
