A fascinating visit to see the ultimate off-road vehicle for the North country from the Altaitransmash-service and Ivan Tomashevich, with help from factory staff. The GT-GR MARAL traverses snow, swamp and water with a large payload. At 3.5 meters wide it is a bit large for urban roads. The town of Rubtsovsk in Siberia was a major manufacturer of motorized machinery since WWII, most notably the T-4 tractors. After the break-up of the Soviet Union the factory shut down and 25,000 jobs were lost. The ATM factory is one of the few factories left in the area. The vehicle has a 14-liter diesel engine and is covered in plate steel. Large companies such as Gazprom and Rosneft use them to go where other vehicles can not. Production of the tracked-carrier vehicle began in 2005.
