Dear friends, it has been a long time I didn’t arrange and record a clarinet quartet, so It’s my pleasure to release this video of the 1st Spanish dance by Manuel de Falla, from the opera La vida breve. Originally written in 1904-1905, this youth opera was premiered later in April 1913 in Nice (France). Then the composer made many transformations inspired by Debussy and from the number opera it was at its Nice premiere, the lyrical drama was premiered in Paris a few months later became an opera with a more continuous musical texture and more mature orchestration. Only an hour long, the complete opera is seldom performed today, but its orchestral sections are, especially the act 2 music published as Interlude and Dance, which is popular at concerts of Spanish music. Fritz Kreisler in 1926 arranged for violin and piano the dance from this pairing under the spurious title Danse espagnole. This clarinet quartet version was directly inspired by this violin version, and if you like it, you will be able to download the arrangement at this address ; ,-extrait-de-la-vida-breve-manuel-de-falla-detail Stay safe ! 💖
