Homer declares at work, in a parody of The Devil and Daniel Webster, that he would sell his soul for a donut after discovering that Lenny and Carl had taken all the donuts and thrown them at an elderly guy (Grampa) “for fun.“ Ned Flanders, the devil, appears and offers Homer a contract to complete the deal. However, before finishing the doughnut, Homer realizes that if he does not eat the entire donut, Ned will not be able to take his soul, so he places the last piece in the refrigerator.
