An artificially created tooth core is created in a process known as tooth core build-up. In cases where the tooth has been decayed so badly because of cavities that nothing remains of the original crown, then it is not possible to fit that tooth with an artificial crown as well because there is not enough anchorage left for the crown to be affixed on.
