Crews of the Ka-29 transport and combat helicopter and the Mi-8 helicopter of the Black Sea Fleet naval aviation to patrol the sea area off the coast of the Crimean Peninsula Helicopters from the duty forces of the naval aviation of the Black Sea Fleet are daily involved in patrolling the Black Sea in areas adjacent to the coast of Crimea. During sorties, pilots, in cooperation with the crews of warships and coastal observation posts, search for unmanned boats and high-speed boats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which do not give up attempts to use them to attack fleet bases and civilian ships. Black Sea aviators have already destroyed quite a few targets that pose a direct threat to shipping in the Black Sea. While performing patrol tasks, crews also improve their skills in using standard helicopter weapons.
