Welcome, guys, thanks for joining me again in this update. I hope you're all well. So, the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor, held on August 26, 2017, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, was a unique and highly publicized boxing match. It featured undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. coming out of retirement to face UFC star Conor McGregor in his professional boxing debut. This crossover event attracted massive global attention due to the clash of sports and personalities. Now, in this fight with respect to skill, it's an easy fight for Floyd, but because of that same reason, he has all the pressure to perform. The boxing world won't let Mayweather simply walk away with a win... no way! There was a high expectation weighted on Mayweather's shoulders to win and look good doing it. This fight was more than a boxing fight... it was an event that brought boxing and MMA fans to the same comments section... and everyone present had a right to be there. The comparison of which sport was harder and which athletes were better was always a talking point between fans. Who would win in a street fight? Who is more skilled... boxers or UFC fighters? These were some of the many questions that would start a whole argument in discussions between the fans, coaches and athletes alike. So I'm sure some of you guys remember the press conferences for the Mayweather-McGregor fight, then you'll understand that the way the fight was promoted was pure genius from a marketing perspective because it played into the talking points that the fans would consistently debate with religiously. So McGregor would often state that he would beat Mayweather in a real fight, and Mayweather would always proclaim that McGregor wasn't skilled enough to beat him because boxing was more technical than MMA. Now, with all the differences that the fans and boxers themselves shared and expressed in their intense internet interactions, there was perhaps one thing that they could agree on... and that is that boxing pays out significantly more than MMA. So, despite McGregor losing this particular contest against Mayweather, I'm more than sure that his share of the purse was more than consolation for his loss against Mayweather. I think McGregor's total earnings from all his UFC days amount to $115 Million, where in this single fight against Mayweather, it's reported that he made a whopping $130 Million dollars. Now obviously this was a mega fight and not every boxing fight pays like this but it's well known that boxing pays out more to its boxers than the UFC does to its fighters. Anyway guys I would finish by saying that McGregor did better than I expected in this fight with his attacks against Mayweather - he definitely caught him out on a few occasions but the result of the win and fashion in which Mayweather crafted it was to be expected and was a tactical treat to witness.
