Subscribe to our channel! Berlin's annual 'Revolutionary May 1st' protest saw around 5,000 protesters riot against the establishment on Saturday. The rally, officially registered as an event for 1,000 participants amid the COVID-19 pandemic, took place on International Workers' Day in the central neighbourhoods of Neukolln and Kreuzberg. Arrests were made as violent skirmishes broke out and included the throwing of glass, stones and other objects, particularly at police targets as crowds chanted anti-police messages. Some fires were also initiated, filling the streets of Neukolln district with smoke. The police were deployed with a contingent of around 5,600 officers and ended the rally at 9pm local time (19:00 GMT).
