Fontana - Sierra Fire

A fast moving brush fire threatened multiple home in Fontana on Sierra avenue this afternoon. At around 2 PM First responders were dispatched to reports of a vegetation fire at Sierra ave. & Casa Grande Ave. When they arrived on scene they found about one acre fire with a moderate rate of spread in the brush. With wind influence the fire began to pick up speed and began making a run towards several neighborhoods to the east and to the north of the fire. A structure defense team was sent to the eastern neighborhood on north sweet leaf ave, and also to the north neighborhood at duncan canyon road. A dozer operator arrive on scene on scene and punch a dozer line strait across the head of the fire. Also a fire fighter was lighting a small back fire to create a barries between the homes and the main fire. Fire fighters continued to flank the fire with a progressive hose lay.
