If consciousness is the only reality and there are no ‘things’ can we also say there are no emotions? Rupert says, if by emotion, you mean a feeling that has its own discreet and independent existence, then yes, there are no emotions. All there is to an emotion is the experience of feeling and all there is to feeling is knowing, or experiencing. An emotion is not a noun, it's a verb. And if you touch the stuff that feeling is made of, all you find is knowing or consciousness. That's true of all experience so bring yourself to the same recognition — all I'm experiencing is consciousness and I am the consciousness that is experiencing it. *This video is taken from one of Rupert's in-person retreats at Garrison Institute — 26 March to 2 April 2023 To view and book for upcoming retreats (many of which can be attended online via livestream) go to: ▸ UK ▸ EU
