🇪🇸Thousands of people turned out in central Madrid to protest against the amnesty law for Catalan independence supporters and against the country’s president, Pedro Sanchez. The demonstration, organised by the conservative Popular Party on the eve of Spain’s Constitution Day, took place at the Temple of Debod under the slogan ’Spain will not surrender’. On 16 November, Spain’s Congress of Deputies (lower house of parliament) approved the candidacy of 51-year-old Socialist Workers’ Party leader Sánchez for the post of prime minister.
