On 10 June 1999, NATO’s operation against Yugoslavia, called ‘Allied Force’, came to an end. The alliance dropped more than 21,000 tonnes of explosives on the country over several months. The airstrikes used banned munitions with radioactive impurities, mainly depleted uranium (U-238). In our video, author Vitaly Buzuev reveals the devastating impact of the bombings on the region. Dozens who were exposed to the toxins have since died of cancer, and even now, hundreds of local children are diagnosed with the disease. Scientists attribute these illnesses to the use of depleted uranium 25 years ago. Learn more about this problem in Vitaly Buzuev and Mikhail Burov's film ‘Fatal Dust: U-238’. #humanstories FOLLOW ?
