Zen Paradox is an electronic music artist, primarily involved in the production of techno as well as other more experimental electronic sounds, from Melbourne, Australia. It is the principle name under which Steve Law records and performs electronic music. He also uses the names Mr. Suspicious, and Mutagenic Mind, and collaborates with a range of artists under other names as well, such as The Sonic Voyagers, with Voiteck. Law is reputed to have been one of Melbourne's principle live electronic acts since 1993. His first musical efforts were released in cassette form for the Melbourne Ambient Music cassette release in the mid-1980s, then in the early '90s he was a member of industrial music group Foil. He was also a principle act on local Melbourne labels Psy-Harmonics from the early 1990s, performing live throughout the 1990s, and on into the new millennium, at big warehouse rave parties like Every Picture Tells A Story, Hardware, Zoetrope, Omniglobe, Technofest and TransAtlantic, not to mention smaller, more esoteric gigs around Australia, and throughout Europe. ------------------------------ VJ MMANDALA aka Adem Jaffers spawn from the early 90's rave culture, that cultural and creative impetus saw Adem gravitate further toward [the] cutting edge experimental digital art with a fervour, initially via the legendary Amiga-500 computer and analogue video-feedback. Expanding his visual repertoire to incorporate lighting and laser; fusing these mediums into dynamic illuminated projection designs for the Psy-Harmonics, Every Picture Tells a Story and Earthdance, Pure raves, the RPL, EGA, Big Day Out, Earthcore and Rainbow Serpent bush-doofs and festivals, as well as internationally for Infinite Frequency (LA), Tsunami (NYC) and Detroit Movement dance parties and festivals; including a Laser op residency at the established Machine monthly techno night. In collaboration with Cyber Dada and Don’t Shoot the Messenger, Adem was a seminal figure in the creation of the experimental Cyberthon video-art live-to-air broadcast events held at the RMITV studios, continueing at the TVU’s pop-up TV broadcast warehouse during the early to mid-’90s. The complete Cyberthon original mastered recordings have recently been digitised into the ACMI archives. Adem has continued to make music videos and perform VJ mixes for various festivalevents,live-streams, and live acts such as Carl Cox, Taipan Tiger Girls (feat. Ollie Olsen), Juno Reactor, My Friend the Chocolate Cake (feat. David Bridie) and Monolake (Robert Henke). One highlight being a collaboration with Projection Teknik (Nick Azidis) in creating the 360-degree animation White Night presentation of Ideation, projection-mapped over the State Library of Victoria’s La Trobe Reading Room. ------------------------------ PSY-HARMONICS
