This lesson lays the foundation for jazz ‘comping' (accompanying) on the snare drum by exploring the seven different possibilities for ‘filling in’ triplets in the context of the swing feel. Each triplet permutation is a simple but unique pattern that forms a rhythmic building block which can be used on it’s own and in combination with other patterns to create useful musical phrases while improvising in the swing feel. The focus of this lesson is combining each triplet pattern with the swing cymbal beat in order to engrain the patterns into your vocabulary and develop basic swing co-ordination. 📄 Preview the PDF worksheet for this lesson at Sacha’s video drum lessons are designed to work hand-in-hand with the matching notated PDF worksheets, all available for download with a yearly or lifetime membership at ▶️ Watch all drum lesson videos ad-free at 🔹
