#mozart #classic #requiem Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Requiem k626 -Lacrimosa The Requiem Mass in D minor K 626 is Mozart's last poignant composition. Left unfinished following the author's death on 5 December 1791, it was subsequently completed by Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Among the moments of greatest dramatic inspiration, the Lacrimosa certainly stands out, the most poignant and well-known piece of the entire Requiem. It is the last composition by Mozart, who died of undefined causes on the night between 5 and 6 December 1791, a few hours after composing this piece, which concludes the third sequence of the Requiem Mass. It was composed in D minor and in 12/8 time. The composer manages, through the use of short phrases of ascending and descending eighth notes assigned to the violins surrounded by wide-ranging choral writing, to create an effect of barely restrained tears. The text reads: “Lacrimosa dies illa, Qua resurget ex favilla, Judicandus homo reus.
