This is an easy beginners tutorial for square macrame coasters made up of only two knots: Lark's Head Knots and Vertical Half Hitch Knots (Vertical Clove Knots). To make these coasters, you need 8x 60cm of 5mm macrame cord to attach to the dowel with Lark's Head Knots. Then create a row of Vertical Half Hitch Knots leaving excess cord either side (this will be the fringing). I personally use one continuous piece of cord to tie to reduce the amount of wastage but if you are using scraps of yarn, you will need each cord to be about 1 meter to tie the knots. Repeat this until you have your desired size and feel free to change colours as you go. I completed the first row in real time so you can easily follow along and then sped the process up. Comb out the fringe and trim down to desired size either with scissors or with a rotary cutter. Let me know in the comments if you have made this and if you found it helpful.
