Larghetto espressivo - Allegretto agitato - Allegro Ludwig van Beethoven's String Quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95, was composed between May and October 1810 and published in 1816 with a dedication to Baron Zmeskall, a close friend of Beethoven since his arrival in Vienna. Its author entitled it “Quartetto Serioso“. The first sketches of the eleventh quartet appeared in May 1810, as soon as the Egmont music was finished. Its finale is musically very close to it. Its composition follows that of his previous quartet by a year. It was not until fourteen years later that Beethoven composed his String Quartet No. 12, but the very particular Serioso is often considered as a precursor to Beethoven'
