Boney M. officially disbanded in the beginning of 1986, just after their compilation album The Best Of 10 Years had been released along with a final TV show. While the group's latest LP Eye Dance failed to chart, The Best Of 10 Years peaked at #3 in the German charts. Producer Frank Farian decided to record a completely new version of the group's first international hit, Daddy Cool, updating it with a heavy italo-disco sound, but upon its release in March '86 it was a total flop. The original Maxi-Version ran 9 minutes but I have extended it with another 6 minutes by incorporating the parts from the instrumental B-side . (which ironically runs 30 seconds longer on the 7“ than on the 12“) and also including some rare parts from a white label 12“ which featured an alternate mix.
