Throughout History it has been the site of many brutal executions and it is the site where 3 Queens of England lost their lives. Two of Henry VIII's Queens, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard were executed on Tower Green, and also Lady Jane Grey (the 9 day queen) perished within the Tower's walls. It was a castle that throughout history has also been a place where torture has occured, for example using the infamous rack on prisoners to get a confession out of them.
