As officials scrambled to fix the issue, another drone vessel collided with the idling boat, causing a dramatic crash. The setback involved two vessels built by U.S. defense tech rivals Saronic and BlackSea Technologies. The admiral in charge of the program was fired, and the program itself, despite significant financial investments, is under review. Despite these, the Pentagon is pushing forward, with its $1 billion Replicator program aiming to acquire thousands of drones, both maritime and aerial.
