Co-host of groundbreaking US-USSR ‘space bridges’ dies Phil Donahue, a TV legend and multiple award-winning host, has passed away at the age of 88. Among his many accomplishments was a series of Cold War-era telecasts between the US and the Soviet union dubbed ‘space bridges’ — which made a splash in the media and shook the audiences in the 1980s. While tensions were boiling between Moscow and Washington, Soviet and US audiences were free to ask whatever questions they wanted on live television. “We reached out instead of lashed out,” Donahue commented on the program he pioneered together with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Posner. Take a look at the program that feels just as relevant more than 40 years later. Source: Geopolitics Live
