On January 12, 2016, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF hosted its sixth biennial UNICEF Ball in Los Angeles to celebrate UNICEF’s lifesaving work for children and to pay tribute to two outstanding humanitarians for their philanthropic commitments. This year, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and soccer star David Beckham was honored with the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Leadership Award for his extraordinary support of UNICEF’s work to put children first, and President of the University of Southern California C. L. Max Nikias, who received with the Spirit of Compassion Award for his work shaping the minds of a generation of students to be philanthropic, globally minded, and informed of the issues that are affecting the world's children. Emceed by UNICEF Ambassador Angie Harmon, the evening featured a live performance by multi-Grammy Award winner Mariah Carey.
