Our beloved Nico Björn passed away a month ago and I am finally able to pay her a little tribute. I wrote a version of this song for a friend awhile ago when her dog died. We used to walk up into the mountains with a huge pack of dogs. So many beautiful memories. So much has changed. Big storms kept me housebound yesterday, so I tweaked the song a bit, recorded it and dug through some old video footage to find Nico in one of her favourite places doing one of her favourite things- ball-ball-ball. She was the best soccer/football player, lemon catcher, swimmer, and big hearted bossy pants. She wasn’t a cuddler, yet still insisted that everyone around her receive her love (whether you wanted it or not). Miss you so much Donkey Bear. You were one in a million.
