The Penguins traveled to Edmonton for their second game of five on this roadtrip, where fans would be treated to a matchup headlined by Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid. In addition, Marcus Pettersson would be the one recording a milestone on this evening: he played his 300th career NHL game. Once the puck dropped, Zach Hyman got Edmonton on the board first just under five minutes into play, but the home team’s lead was short-lived. Rickard Rakell wired the puck home on the power play to even things up, 1-1. Shortly after Rakell’s tally, goaltender Tristan Jarry ripped a pass up ice to Rakell at the Edmonton blue line. Rakell skated the puck in and somehow sent a pass to captain Sidney Crosby, who gave the Penguins a 2-1 lead. Early in the 2nd period, Bryan Rust found the back of the net for his third tally on the season, giving Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead.
