At last! here is a restoration video after a long time just on public demand. This is the most rusty cleaver I have ever restored, this antique butcher cleaver was send to us from Netherland by one of our supporter Stuw, his instagram @Stuwhoutje. He found it with the help of a metal detector. I did not make any big changes to this cleaver. I did not smoothen those big holes from corrosion and at the end I like that antique look of the cleaver. Restoration: First of all I removed thick layers of rust with gentle hammering then I choosen Electrolysis for removing deeper rust because it is a safer and non damaging way of removing rust. After many hours of electrolysis I simply do a sandblasting for a good looking surface. Now time to Reshape it using belt sander and files While filing the surface I felt that it is still good tempered and ready to make the bevel I used a wet surface grinder to not destroy its temper.
