European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hailed “a big step forward in the energy supply to Europe“, when witnessing a gas export deal signed Wednesday among EU, Israel and Egypt in Cairo. Under the framework deal, the EU will also encourage European companies to take part in Israeli and Egyptian exploration tenders.
