A brown bear on the remote, far-east island of Iturup managed to defy gravity and local safety laws by climbing a sheer cliff face. The bear had apparently been spooked after encountering a group of about 20 people (which is a rare thing in the Kuril Islands) and decided to seek refuge not in a tree, but a sheer rock face. And somehow, it just kept going. And going. Eventually, it had climbed almost all the way to the top, several hundred meters above both the ground, and the group of people who at this point were probably quite affronted that the bear would go to such lengths to avoid them. The bear has since gained the nickname ‘The Alpinist.’ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Freedom over censorship, truth over narrative.
