A convoy of dozens of protesters marched through the streets of Insein township, in the north of Yangon on Sunday, as demonstrations continued against February's military coup. Security forces reportedly removed makeshift barricades from many of the city's roads overnight, with protesters therefore sticking to demonstrations within smaller streets. Several protesters were seen with placards in support of National League for Democracy's (NLD) politician Salai Maung Taing San, known by the honorific 'Dr Sasa,' letter asking the UN Security Council to exercise its 'Responsibility to Protect' (R2P) on March 4. All UN members endorsed the R2P commitment at the 2005 World Summit, with the measure intended to provide a framework for the prevention of crimes against humanity, genocide, ethnic cleansing, and war crimes.
