I’m a musician, English teacher and a writer from Kaliningrad. Teaching English actually inspires me to write new songs. Some of the techniques that I use during my classes are “Q&A” and “Storytelling”. The main idea is to connect interests, passion and imagination with the language and express it in the context of a new linguistic environment. I believe it is one of the best ways to study because when we connect English with personality we learn the language naturally. It is very much like learning how to play the guitar - first you write a lot of songs that contain your personality and then you share your music with the world. For English it works the same way - if you want to learn the language it’s a good idea to speak a lot and share your stories. When you share your stories (“Q&A”, “Storytelling” techniques for instance) either via speaking or writing, you connect the learning process with your passion. For example, I am a musician and when I was making my first steps along the winding, untrodden path of English learning I connected something that I loved - which is music - with English. And it worked. It always does.
