Julian Assange has been reunited with his family in Australia after pleading guilty to obtaining and publishing United States military secrets in a deal that sets him free from a 14-year legal battle. On Wednesday, 12 years after he locked himself in a London embassy to avoid possible extradition to the US, the WikiLeaks founder boarded a flight from the US-controlled Pacific island of Saipan to Canberra. Assange disembarked from a private jet in the Australian capital just after UK time, waving to waiting media before kissing his wife, Stella, and lifting her off the ground.
