On July 1, 2022 at 9:15PM, Deputy O'Neill was on patrol on US 1 when he observed a red Honda sedan unable to maintain its speed or lane. At one point, the car swerved partially into oncoming traffic. Upon stopping the vehicle, the deputy learned that the same vehicle had been reported as a reckless driver a short time earlier. The driver appeared intoxicated and her child was sleeping in the passenger seat. Deputy O'Neill conducted several sobriety tests, which the woman failed. When she was being placed under arrest, she resisted and became aggressive, at one point spitting on the deputy. While on the way to jail, she repeatedly kicked the patrol car partition, causing approximately $200 in damages. Her blood alcohol content was .24. She was charged with DUI - .15 or higher with person under 18 in the vehicle, Resisting an Officer, Battery on an Officer, Criminal Mischief - Damaging Property, Resisting - Refusal to Sign Citation, and Neglect Child without Great Bodily Harm.
