The Image: The Image: The first time we see Christiane's mask... Just about one of the most astonishing endings ever to any film; I suppose I am talking about the last 30 seconds or so when the boy places the mask on his face in front of the metal fence. Try to ever forget that image... The space below signifies my speechlessness at how good this film is - perhaps mostly the cinematography, the acting by Mbissine Thérèse Diop (still very much alive) and somehow its shockingness - and that slow death of Diouana enveloped in those tiny four walls in France - always regarded silently by the mask she brought from Senegal to give to Madame as a present... tristan@ _________ All clips uploaded solely for celebration and education....
