De Profundis (Mikes Poppe, 2017) - art performance

DE PROFUNDIS (Mikes Poppe, 2017) “In the court house of Ostend, I will attach myself to a block of Carrara marble. Day and night, 24/7, I will live and work in this space. Eating, sleeping, drawing. Working. No phone, no computer. With hammer and chisel, I will try to free myself. The house light will stay on.“ It lasted for 20 days and 19 nights, after which Joanna De Vos - art historian and curator and the court house judge decided to cut me free. There is always hope on the Raft of the Medusa! Art is not Lonely! No regret. (Durational) Performance Art never is a Olympic record attempt. The spiritual and utopian travel is more important than the “achievement“ as such. My art is a quest for the sublime and transgression in poetical and physical images. “Ever tried. Ever failed.
