There is a bit of fascination in the so-called “carry“ DPS roles in Overwatch gameplay but that falls a bit flat when the goal is winning. It is true that with sheer mechanical brilliance DPS have the highest potential to carry games, but that is not common whatsoever. The support role, especially after the Lucio rework and the fragility of Ana/Zen in dive meta makes them all play as hard if not harder than most DPS classes, yet more crucial to the team in many cases. With this being the case you'd think you'd see more support picks in matchmaking “I don't play healer, only XYZ DPS“ yet that type of self restriction is leaving a lot of power on the table, especially when team comps are often lacking the role.
