St. Moritz has a long history of hosting prestigious polo matches and horse racing events on its frozen lake. Given the town's reputation for luxury and high-end winter sports, it was a logical step to add a sophisticated motoring event to its list of winter activities. The preparation process for Snow Polo, White Turf and ice racing events in St. Moritz begins as soon as the ice thickness reaches 27 cm. Rigorous crash tests are carried out using weights of 7,700 kg and a specially designed 3,500 kg snow-track vehicle fitted with safety floats. Only after these tests, the lake is cleared for the construction of the event village. The ice thickness is continuously monitored and at the time of the event, it is approximately 45 cm thick, providing a stable and secure surface for the cars. On the day of the race, which is usually on a Saturday, the cars are driven on the lake course, allowing the judges to assess both the cars and their drivers. The winners are then announced later that afternoon. Following a successful test edition in 2019, the concept and project for The . St. Moritz were further developed and refined over the course of the two Covid-affected years. In February 2022, the highly-anticipated first edition of the event was finally held and proved to be a great success. The .
