The preparation process for Snow Polo, White Turf and ice racing events in St. Moritz begins as soon as the ice thickness reaches 27 cm. Rigorous crash tests are carried out using weights of 7,700 kg and a specially designed 3,500 kg snow-track vehicle fitted with safety floats. Only after these tests, the lake is cleared for the construction of the event village. The ice thickness is continuously monitored and at the time of the event, it is approximately 45 cm thick, providing a stable and secure surface for the cars. On the day of the race, which is usually on a Saturday, the cars are driven on the lake course, allowing the judges to assess both the cars and their drivers.
