Just one word: WOW! I can hardly believe that today I'm able to celebrate two milestones at once: my 100th upload at YouTube as well as reaching 2000 subscribers! In the last two weeks I worked on a very special track for this unique event. It's a piece that combines two songs that inspired me the most when it comes to 1) making music and 2) composing music in the soundtrack genre. NEW: I just created a PayPal-Donate link after receiving a number of requests for this. Thank you so much for your will to support my little musical project, I really appreciate it! Here's the direct link if you'd like to donate: “Herr Mannelig“ is an old Swedish folk ballad that regularly gets covered especially by medieval (rock) and folk bands. Full disclosure now: I absolutely love medieval music. I came across a very special version of the song when I was 12 years old playing the game “Gothic“ which is - to this day - one of my (if not THE) favorite games. A german band called “In Extremo“ had a special appearance in the game playing their acoustic version of “Herr Mannelig“. And they somehow immediately became one of my favorite bands of that time. The music of In Extremo was what brought me to buy a guitar and teach myself how to play. Well, so that can really be called the kick off for my very first steps in making music. And it's a great transition to the second part of the song. As I said, “Gothic“ and it's successors “Gothic II“ ( AddOn) and “Gothic III“ shaped my childhood and teenage years - and so did the outstanding score of Kai Rosenkranz. Kai can be named as one of the biggest influences for me when it comes to how I began to write music in the soundtrack genre and so are his beautiful scores. Maybe you can now imagine why these two musical elements came into my mind as a special release to celebrate both my 100th upload and 2000 subscribers. I really hope you like this one and would appreciate it if you leave some feedback to the track. Feel free to also drop some thoughts on the Gothic games, “Herr Mannelig“ or other elements I described above. Totally looking forward to read your comments! You can now buy me a coffee!
