In this series, I have blended my love for nature with my passion for botanical paintings and acrylic washes. This was a breakthrough moment for me as it was the first time I truly understood the power and interplay of the acrylic washes. I layered colors in small steps, building up a transparent effect, and creating big, bold shapes that add depth and interest to the composition. With some intuitive texture addition of th gold, this painting went from so so to YES! 3:51 CHAOTIC BY NATURE The next painting, 'Chaotic by Nature', was the fourth in the series and took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. As someone who thrives in chaos, I struggled with the composition, even though I loved the colored lines. It took several layers, including the addition of dark contrast, and a lot of experimentation until I reached a point where the composition was pleasing. 7:49 WITH FRESH EYES Finally, the last painting of the series, 'With Fresh Eyes', was the hardest to create, and it took me weeks to complete the multiple layers. I started with a realistic base, adding big acrylic washes and using an iridescent gold for the first time. It was a challenge to keep building up the layers, but I felt good about the final result, using blue and dark blue to balance the colors and adding final touches that brought the painting to life.
