The Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) autonomous minehunting mothership 'RFA Stirling Castle' returns to Devonport in Plymouth, UK. This ship acts as a platform for the Royal Navy's autonomous minehunting systems. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) acquired commercial offshore supply vessel MV Island Crown in 2023 and converted the ship into a mothership known as RFA Stirling Castle (M01). The mothership is being used as a forward operating base to test autonomous mine countermeasure operations. An example of it's operations include deploying drones for the surveillance and protection of underwater cables, and other infrastructure at sea.
