#forge #bladesmith #knifemaking In this video I make a knife from a piece of a cultivator shank (probably 5160 spring steel) and some stabilized black walnut wood. The blade of this knife is hand forged to roughly the shape of a knife. The rest of the profiling and bevel grinding is done with the angle grinder and belt sander. The blade is heat treated for excellent edge retention and toughness. Afterwards it is handsanded to 400 grit for a nice satin finish. The handle is held on by two steel pins and West System's G/flex epoxy. It also has an epoxy finish. timestamps 0:00 forging 2:07 profiling 6:23 bevel grinding 9:06 handsanding 9:44 drilling holes in tang 10:29 heat treating 11:20 etching logo 12:00 final handsanding 12:54 preparing handle scales 15:14 glue up 17:18 handle shaping 20:38 applying finish to handle 20:59 sharpening 21:50 final review Be sure to check out our Facebook page:
