This track was a UK No.1 for three weeks in 1960, it reached No.3 in the US. Jimmy Jones (b. 1937 Birmingham, Alabama) is still highly regarded as an influential character on modern music. His use of falsetto voice in R&B/pop directly influenced Del Shannon, who in turn influenced The Bee Gees disco orientated tracks. There is a great video of Jimmy Jones performing his other well known hit ’Handy Man’ live and it shows why people warmed to him; a real charismatic entertainer and showman.
