Robert used a boogie bass pattern with his thumb that really drove the song with just an acoustic guitar. While many people have updated this song with a full band or with more cliche type patterns, I feel most excited when going back to the roots of how the song was originally recorded all the way back in 1936. It's essential to learn to play the 12-bar blues in E, which we do naturally over this classic blues standard.
