Entering #Daraa Al Balad today after the final reconciliation agreements were accepted and the Syrian Arab Army took full control, hoisting the Syrian and Russian flags on buildings previously occupied by the US Israeli Coalition proxies. The peace is raw and fragile, some I spoke to were bitter and still angry, but admitted that peace is preferable to the exhaustion of war. The cure for the cancer which is fanaticism is often harsh but always necessary. I spoke to a young 15th Division soldier and asked him if he believed that true long-lasting reconciliation was possible. He told me that between Syrians it is possible. He joined the Army in 2012. I asked if he was tired. He said “no, this is my country, I will fight until every inch is free and my country gives me the strength to keep fighting“ The video shows the entry and exit from Daraa Al Balad and then leaving bustling Daraa as a contrast, heading back to Damascus.
